People of Purpose

Connecting people to their unique human experience through Purpose.

Apr 27, 2019

Whitney Chaffin was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Ohio, but currently lives in Florida. She works with about 55 non profit organizations, sits on the board of a non profit and invests in real estate for both profit and purpose, to give people a second chance at life. Back in Whitney's hometown in Ohio, substance abuse is a prominent problem. Addiction and alcoholism runs in her family, and when she had a friend die from an accidental drug overdose in 2013, she made it her mission to find out why. Whitney figured out that depression was a serious part of the problem. People would turn to drugs as an escape from their problems. So, out of compassion, she set out to make life beautiful for anyone she meets so they never felt the need to escape their reality with a temporary, artificial high. Instead, replacing it with a true high on life. Whitney experienced depression from age 20-25, and to get over it she started giving back to the community. She began giving back to people from various non-profit organizations and it got to the point where she ended up helping more than 55 different non-profits in Palm Beach County, FL. Whitney competed in the Miss Florida USA pageant in 2015 as a way to promote her missions, and in 2016 she changed career paths when she started investing in real estate. In 2018, Whitney became a professional speaker, sharing her mission and working across the United States. Most notably, in 2018, Whitney donated $25k to a non-profit called Place of Hope that houses children in foster care to help them build a community center for the children and families who reside on their campus. She now sits on the advisory board and is an Angel Mom, providing resources to various children in need through the non-profit organization.
