People of Purpose

Connecting people to their unique human experience through Purpose.

Mar 7, 2020

Shout out to PODCORN for sponsoring today's episode of People of Purpose!

For the better part of the last decade, Rich has been immersed in the multitude of yoga teachings across many lineages as well as a deep study of the various shamanic healing arts in South America. He tends to redirect questions about what style of yoga he teaches, as he has thoroughly enjoyed Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and various of the other cleverly thought out styles and philosophies of yoga and movement medicines. Rich feels there is wisdom to be gleaned from all of these art forms, and incorporate aspects of all of them into my offerings for my students. The path towards union is as varied as the faces of those that practice. He has been blessed to be both student and teacher across many parts of the world, from bustling cities like New York London, Barcelona, and the Florida Keys, to deep in the rainforest of Peru, Key West, Thailand, Bali, and in the presence of masters in India. The amazing list of countries he has had the honor to be of service in is ever-growing.

Rich's path to the self has included deep immersion and study in the shamanic arts, studying with individuals and tribes alike, including the people of the Shipibo, Matses, and Yawanawa. Many of the lessons he has learned regarding our truest nature and the workings of our energetic body are interwoven into my teaching style. He is ever grateful for his students and honored to hold space for their development. The gathering and growing of his global tribe is the highest honor and gift.

Listen as we talk about:

  • His process of transformation from being a nuclear engineer and tattoo artist to becoming an Ayahuasca Shaman.

  • Why he chooses to empower rather than to use power over anybody.

Tanur's Top 7 Takeaways from an Ayahuasca Shaman

  1. Get excited and inspired by hiccups in life - they are the silver lining that forces us to think outside the box.
  2. There are no such things as investments - energy always comes back to us - we don’t need to save energy as if it will go away
  3. After enough leaps of faith through your fears, you know that surrender feels best
  4. The importance of changing  our patterns to access our purpose - use discomfort as an instrument of the divine
  5. Journaling is thinking with intention -  kind of the opposite of meditation
  6. Humans are made for the tribe - the synergy of two is greater than the sum of its parts - serving the whole serves the individual best
  7. Trust in the power of your voice - You have everything you need - Invest in your heart’s voice and it will create space to find your tribe and community.
